a lady named Wiggins who I called aunt Lizzie when I visited Island as a five-year-old child I think she lived at Warren Point I haven’t yet found Aunt Lizzie

Unfortunately we couldn’t decipher the place on the 1881 census it look something like Mussel field. There is no such place in County Down. Saintfield has been suggested but the writing doesn’t match that

The 1881 England Census is also the only place that Alexander says he is born in Maytown Armagh. Maytown is near Bessbrook a model Quaker village not far from Newry. There were Livingstons at Maytown from the 1820’s to the end of the 20th century, when Joseph Livingston died leaving the farm to one of his daughters who married a Fletcher. The farm is now owned by Sam and Gladys O’Hara. The Livingstons were tenant farmers for over a century in the same place! farmed blocks 10 and 11. There are also a family of Livingstons, across Maytown Rd, in the townland of Mullaglass. I have been attempting to fill in their family tree and see where the Maytown Livingston’s and the Mullaglass Livingston’s and the Bessbrook Livingston’s (another family) all join up.

However, having now ascertained, Alexander’s mother was probably Rachel Brown, it seems likely the Maytown connection is through his mother. Rachel Brown(e) probably went home to give birth to one of the three different Brown’s who also farm in Maytown.
